Professor John Smart
I have lived in this area for over twenty years, am married with four children, all of whom attended local schools. I spent five years as a school governor and am a parish councillor.
I am a qualified pharmacist working (part-time now) as a university professor. I have been head of department, sat on Dept of Health committees, and chaired the national body for UK schools of pharmacy education. I have also run a small pharmacy business.
I am concerned with developments planned locally; their size, whether they meet our housing needs, how sustainable they are and how well we are able to cope with them. I am keen to ensure East Hampshire has one of the best environmental records in the country, particularly with recycling, there is real room for improvement here.
I welcome the chance to serve you on the council, for a safer, greener and better Horndean.
