Government admits it will break the law

Mr Brandon Lewis, the Northern Ireland secretary conceded when questioned about the proposed new Trade Law, that it would break international law in a "very specific and limited way".   No way to get the confidence of international partners.

The Government's most senior lawyer, Sir Jonathan Jones, resigned from his role in light of the bill. Sir Jonathan, the government's most senior lawyer, is understood to believe it went too far in breaching the government's obligations under international law.

Breaking the law when it's inconvenient is the sort of behaviour we are used to accusing others of.
